Jon Michael Varese, Director of Digital Initiatives for the Dickens Project, will give a talk on May 9 featuring "Our Mutual Friend: The Scholarly Pages", a scholarly electronic resource dedicated to Dickens's last completed novel. The talk will take place at 4:30 pm in Special Collections at UCSC's McHenry Library.

The updated web site, originally constructed for the BBC in 1998, was recently reviewed in the New York Times.

Original serial parts of the novel, part of the Ada B. Nisbet Archive, will be on display. The talk takes place in the California Room inside Special Collections on the 3rd floor and space is very limited. A reception will follow downstairs in the main library.

In addition to the talk, the Dickens Project is exhibiting items from its 32-year history in a special display just outside Special Collections. The exhibit will stay in place through the spring quarter. Click here for directions and information about parking.
