In January, the seniors at NAI mounted a rare cultural event: a MiddleLab Festival and two performances of a full-length theatrical adaptation of Middlemarch. The seniors casted and crewed these evening shows presenting live theatrical scenes, custom-made period costumes and original choreography that brought the novel to life.

Are you team Dickens or Eliot? That was the question of the night on Tuesday, Feb. 7, when Dickens Project Founders John O. Jordan and Murray Baumgarten, visited UC Davis to talk about Charles Dickens and George Eliot in anticipation of this year’s annual Dickens Universe conference.

Each year following the Dickens Universe, the Dickens Project hosts a smaller conference during the winter. This year, the Dickens Project Winter Conference will be held at the University of Kentucky, Lexington KY, on February 23-25, 2017.
