NEH Summer Institutes and Seminars

The Summer Institutes sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities provide K–12 teachers and higher education faculty with the opportunity to engage in sustained, rigorous study of foundational texts and ideas in the humanities. Through a combination of close reading, collaborative discussion, critical writing, and reflective inquiry, participants deepen their disciplinary knowledge while joining a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to advancing humanities education.

Since 1983, the Dickens Project has hosted 13 NEH Institutes, offering educators transformative experiences that not only renew their intellectual engagement with literature and culture but also enrich their classroom instruction. Building on this distinguished tradition, the Dickens Project continues to serve as a nationally recognized center for scholarly excellence and professional growth.
