The Dickens Universe 2009

INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS

There is a special workshop available for teachers during the Universe week. This occurs each afternoon at 1:30. Starting this summer, the sessions will be led by Alice Alarcon and Wayne Batten. High school teachers have an opportunity to gather together and discuss teaching problems and strategies, sharing materials and lesson plans. Books discussed are usually Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities, but it can extend to others, like Oliver Twist, Hard Times, and/or A Christmas Carol.

The Dickens Project has made a commitment to helping teachers teach Dickens and other 19th-c British authors. We continue to provide curricular materials, seminars, and forums for teachers.

This year you may also enroll and receive 4 units from UCSC Extension for an additional cost of $200. If you'd like to receive these units, read the information here and then email your request to JoAnna at the Project office (dpj at ucsc.edu).
